World Cancer Day 2014

World Cancer DayToday is World Cancer Day. It’s a day to build awareness & to also debunk myths of cancer. We see a number of patients who have skin damage due to excessive exposure to UV rays.

Although skin cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers, it is also one of the very few cancers that can be prevented. Some of us weren’t lucky enough to have all the facts when we were growing up.

It is our job now to lead by example in educating our youngsters to avoid UV exposure and to be “sun-smart”. Melanoma is one of the fastest growing cancers and the second most common cancer in young adults aged 15 to 34. When it comes to our skin, there is no such thing as being overprotective.
